I was asked by a few players how we seed playoffs. Cannot be sent home by points. - Ties in pool play are broken by a play-in set (except ties where both teams are in playoffs, then see tie breaking procedure below). Give appropriate advantage to the higher seeded teams, rewarding strong pool play. - we seed first place teams according to won loss percentage, point differential, coin flip. Make every effort to not play a team in your pool until the finals. - this is where the confusion begins, we seed the second place teams comng out of pool according to the seed of the first place teams. Since we don't want the 2 teams coming out of one pool to play until the finals, the second place teams get placed into the opposite bracket. This gives the impression of lower seeds when comparing won/loss percentages of all second place teams. We are just placing the team into the appropriate bracket so as not play the team in the same pool until the finals. Tie breaking procedures in pool play head to head sets head to head point differential total point differential in pool flip a coin This past weekend (8/13), 2 of the 3 divisions having more than 1 pool (all 3 with a minimum of 8 teams), the finalists came from the same pool!
